I came across this synopsis of transformational change that comes when our hearts are being renewed. (David Henderson, “The Art of Voice Recognition”, which I found in James Wilhoit’s book, Spiritual Formation as if the Church Mattered)

As our hearts are transformed by faith, we will move:

— from self-absorption to concern for God’s Kingdom (Matt. 6:33)
— from defiance to submission (1 Sam. 15:19-22)
— from self-reliance to God-reliance (Jer. 17:5-8)
— from squandering resources to stewarding them (Matt. 25:14-30)
— from expecting and taking for granted to accepting and gratitude (Luke 17:11-19)
— from spiritual indifference to spiritual growth and vitality (2 Pet. 1:3-8)
— from concern with externals to concern for character (1 Sam. 16:7)
