As Jesus prayed for the church in John 17, he prayed a HIGH OCTANE prayer for us! We need to hear this call in our lives.

As the church bears the Spirit, it also bears the “call of God to the world” because we are to live out the manifestation of the love and glory of God in the world. Jesus was the bearer of God’s glory, and now the church bears that glory in this world.

The confidence of the church’s mission rests here: If it lives in the Spirit (and thereby in the Father and Son), if it reflects God’s glory and love, if it shows a unity in is ranks born by a shared knowledge of God, its testimony will astonish the world.  — Gary Burge (The NIV Application Commentary: John)

He prays that we may love one another so we can demonstrate the glory and love of Christ effectively in this world.
