That was the attitude of the Corinthians. (And you thought I was going to talk about blogosphere blowhards. Sometimes they can be interchangeable. Feel free to apply the principles.)

A key thing to remember about the “spiritual gifts” in 1 Corinthians 12 is not trying to find out which one you have as much as understanding WHY you are being used in particular gifts.

They are not for you. They are not for your own benefit or updating your very spiritual Facebook status. They are for the common good. 

It’s not about achieving certain gifts and then humbly bragging about what gift God so graciously gave you.

The question is this: are you flowing in the power of the Spirit for the common good?
