I am working my way through Mark Batterson’s book The Circle Maker. It is something I’ve wanted to get to and finally walking through a Barnes and Noble last night, I picked up and started reading. It is a challenge to my very anemic prayer life right now.
He talks about praying hard. We need persistence that simply won’t give up. There are times when it seems like God puts us on hold. Too often if we feel that way, we will hang up. That is a key moment.
We can live in that place where we say, “Well, God is working in their lives. But in our own lives, well…”
That dot dot dot… the ellipsis… is where Batterson says we live most of the time. It’s a pause. We’re waiting on God for an answer. In that ellipsis you have a choice. You can hang up or hang on.
We don’t always get the answers we want to prayer. But we must always be willing to hang on.
