For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esth. 4:14, NIV)
Esther’s place as the queen was not seen as an accident by Mordecai. He saw the hand of God so that when the threat from Haman came, someone close to the king could persuade him to think this through and save a genocide.
We are not always aware of our “assignments” from God. We think we work a job or go to a class or do work around the house. We may just trudge through that type of day and think it’s not much. But it may be that at a certain point that “job” becomes an assignment from God.
When we lived in Colorado and I wasn’t in ministry, the places I worked were challenges for me. I began to pray for opportunities to be salt and light. I STILL pray for those opportunities!
I asked the Lord to help me live out the Kingdom in such a way that when others had struggles in their lives, they would seek me out. It was a joy to see those doors open up. Over my time in those jobs I always had people pulling me aside and asking for a listening ear or a chance to talk.
We never know about our “assignments” from God. We need to ask more clearly every day what God has in mind.
