The power of the Kingdom, the offer of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, is found in true freedom. It is about freedom from the things that bind us up. It is about being complete in God. The Kingdom already provides that power. We need to recognize it, then walk in it.

That is the rub.

Being “anger-free” or “lust-free” or “revenge-free” looks good on paper… but HOW?

This is where Jesus takes us in Matthew 6. Disciplines.

Prayer, for example, needs to take on a new meaning.

It’s not about meaningless chatter to try and manipulate God into something. It is about conversation. Ultimately, it is a conversation where we spend our time listening rather than telling, then acting instead of pondering and then going home.

Turn prayer away from meaningless chatter and into meaningful conversation.
