Growing up in church one of my boyhood heroes was Jimmy Swaggart. Our family watched his telecast every Sunday morning and when I was in high school I got up at 5 every morning to watch his daily show, “A Study in the Word.”

The weekly telecasts were from his crusades. One of my favorite singers was Fred Johnson. I had a live album of crusade songs and my favorite was Fred Johnson singing, “I Keep Falling in Love With Him.” Fred was so moved in singing the song goes on for ten minutes. Fred’s love for Jesus spikled out in that song. I still look that song up from time to time and listen to him.

There are times when the love of Christ and the beauty of who he is just blows me away. I so want to be swept away by his presence. I so want to move past our cultural arguments and just talk about Jesus. If we can see Jesus… every issue we thought was so important just fades away.

It is Jesus. Him alone. And I am swept away by his love all over again.
