Do you remember seeing goofy scenes in movies where someone falls into water and screams because they think they are drowning, only to discover they are in 6 inches of water and can stand up?

I have a feeling that is this fiscal cliff mess. We scream about going over the cliff. The truth is we have been going over this cliff for quite some time and we are holding onto some twig thinking we are about to plunge to our death. In reality we are about six inches off the ground.

Granted, the ground is really the bottom and we are about to be crushed by a flood of unpaid bills we have racked up in this country, but let’s stop the over-hyping of our situation concerning some mythical cliff.

Some small deal will be done to keep kicking the can down the road. We do not have grown-up leaders trying to solve these issues. We have cronies who have fed at the government trough for too long and do not know how to think any other way.

We do not send leaders to Washington, so we will continue in the same funk. We have the “leaders” we deserve. We demand everything and sacrifice nothing as a people. And that is who we send to Washington.
