I was meditating on the magi coming to Bethlehem. They were seeking, and probably for about two years (and longer).
Signs in the heavens. I personally think they were tracking the Hale Bopp Comet.
As I think of the biblical worldview of “awe” at the signs in nature, I thought of our lack of awe in this age. We have everything figured out. Hurricanes and tornadoes are just hurricanes and tornadoes. No longer are they “signs” from God… or gods. We’ve got everything figured out.
So… what brings us “awe” today?
On this Christmas Day, may our breath still be taken away at the thought of God loving this world so much he sent his Son.
Come and worship.
Bow in awe.
