Conflict with the world

Peace with God means conflict with the world, for the goad of the promised future stabs inexorably into the flesh of every unfulfilled present. — Jurgen Moltmann

We are people who live “out of place.” We need to live with the hunger for home while we live with excellence here.

  1. I don’t know what that means but it sounds impressive! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. My work here is done! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. With Moltmann it usually takes me several weeks to figure out what he’s saying, but when I figure it out, I’m blown away. I thought I would get ahead of the curve this time and just be blown away.

    1. This is good. I was just conversing with someone earlier today about the elections. It is hard, because the economy, taxes, foreign policy, health care are all great discussion topics and areas where people are passionate. However, I found myself this week struggling with the how much thought, energy, passion, and conviction I can sometimes put into American politics. It doesn’t seem difficult for me at all to strike up a political conversation with someone. Today, now in multiple ways, I have been reminded of my temporary citizenship in America. My permanent citizenship is in heaven, where King Jesus reigns. What are the issues affecting that Kingdom? What conversations am I having with people about that home? Where is my passion for what is going on with that Kingdom?

As a temporary citizen of America, I stay informed, I have conversations, I vote and then I pray for my elected officials. My message to friends, family, and coworkers though, needs to be about my passion, love and allegiance for King Jesus…the One who sits securely on the throne and in whom I have absolute security.

      1. I know that’s the feeling I get as well. I’m so involved in political conversations and thoughts, I let those ideas get the best of me far too often.
