An Anglicostal Connecting to a Real World
As Yakov Smirnoff would say, “I LOOOVVVEE this country!”
So, please, understand what I am saying. We have a civic calendar and often we substitute it for the church calendar, especially in the American church.
Tomorrow is Flag Day, and I salute what this country does and means. I love living here.
But, here are my flags and where I ultimately pledge my allegiance:
Thank you! I have waited a long time to hear some one echo my own feelings about flags and allegiance.
I love this country and would not want to live anywhere else in the world but I want to be and strive to be Christ-Focused with my choices and decisions (that doesn’t mean I suceed – lol) rather than with flags and countries that can undergo massive changes in leadership and design.
Christ is today as he was yesterday and will be tomorrow – God ALONE can change him or his actions.
There is a lot about remembering “those who died for our freedom” here in the U.S. but not one of them could give me the freedom of spirit or freedom from sin. Those are things only Christ can give. And he does so – ironically enough – freely! Please understand that I am not against our soldiers – to do so would be to be against my many family members who served. I just want a freedom that is beyond what even the largest army could provide.
