Behold! The Baby Wrapped in a Snuggie!

This will teach me to read more slowly! As I was reading the Luke 2 account in my Common English Bible I had to do a double take in v. 12.

I honestly thought it read: “you will find a newborn baby wrapped in a snuggie…”

Upon further review:

12 This is a sign for you: you will find a newborn baby wrapped snugly and lying in a manger.

Whew!

  1. made me chuckle – but snugly is a much better fit than snuggie 😉

It is also in verse 7. 🙂 I read the CEB of Luke 2 last week for our Christmas program…I thought it offered a more fun take on the account rather than the traditional readings which seem to be more canned after so many times of hearing them in contexts where they seemed to not carry genuine meaning for either reader or listeners. Just my thoughts. I rather enjoyed the “snugly” wrapped baby Jesus. Have a Merry Christmas!

    1. It really is a fun text. If I can ever get past Human One I just might preach from it more. 😉

      MERRY Christmas.

FWIW, I just discovered last night, while reading to my family from the NLT in Luke 2, that they use the same term, “snugly”.

    1. I feel all warm and fuzzy now.

  4. some of these word changes disturb me. especially the Human One. i like the picture of the little baby though, too cute…
