1 The LORD God’s spirit is upon me,
because the LORD has anointed me.
He has sent me
to bring good news to the poor,
to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim release for captives,
and liberation for prisoners,
2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor
and a day of vindication for our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
3 to provide for Zion’s mourners,
to give them a crown in place of ashes,
oil of joy in place of mourning,
a mantle of praise
in place of discouragement.
They will be called Oaks of Righteousness,
planted by the LORD to glorify himself.
4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins;
they will restore
formerly deserted places;
they will renew ruined cities,
places deserted in generations past. (Isaiah 61:1-4, CEB)
As I prepare this text for Sunday’s message, I am blown away by the faith God has given our church. There is a calling the Lord is placing on our church to truly live in this power. In the area of missions, we are stepping up to one of the most incredible giving years for missions we’ve probably ever witnessed.
We are reaching out in our community in significant ways as well. The response I see time and again from people to help in our community is amazing.
This is a time to truly see who we are in Christ and step out!
This next year for Heights Church will be amazing as we move out under the anointing of the Spirit.
