The more I am able to walk through the Common English Bible, the more I enjoy some of the phrases.

Here is a comparison of Rev. 3:2

² Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. (NIV2011)

² Wake up and strengthen whatever you have left, teetering on the brink of death, for I’ve found that your works are far from complete in the eyes of my God. (CEB)

What a great turn of the phrase. It’s a great wake up call to the church in Sardis. They needed to know how close to they edge they were.
