That was an amazing thesis…er, review! I just spent much of the past three hours reading it, and I agree with the conclusions. I find the new NIV to be a fine translation; I’m not only comfortable with it, I’m also quite confident in it. If there’s anything negative about it, I think it’s that it tends to get a little too normal, too easy, too…bland? But if I really want to dig into the scripture with understanding, the new NIV has to be one of the translations, if not the MAIN one, on the menu.
