I Will Keep Reminding You

In our “been there, done that” world, it’s easy to see why the evangelical community in the U.S. has slipped away from the practices of the liturgical calendar. Why in the world would we want to repeat anything?

We know the Christmas story. Enough already! Why go through this again?

But we need the reminders. We need the rhythms reset in our lives from time to time. Peter tells us why:

12 So I’ll keep reminding you about these things, although you already know them and stand secure in the truth you have. 13 I think it’s right that I keep stirring up your memory, as long as I’m alive. (2 Peter 1:12-13, CEB)

Don’t hurry by this season. Allow something fresh and new to sweep into your life. It may just be a reminder, but the freshness of that reminder may be what is necessary for the Spirit to do something truly new in your life.
