There are “prayer times,” and then there is the joy of walking in prayer as life happens. I am struck by Jesus’ amazing ability to have times of tremendous ministry that had to expend a lot of energy, and he did so with ease. Luke’s gospel gives us a peek into the prayer life of Jesus. There would be flurries of activity followed by times when Jesus would intentionally withdraw himself to pray.
He did not shun the crowds. When they pressed in, he ministered to them. He taught. He healed.
One of the things I continue to learn is to know there are times, like now, when life demands huge blocks of time. The crush of activity and obligations is just there. As I walk more with the Lord I find those are times where I must meet those obligations and simply know that my ongoing conversation of prayer will be amidst the activity. The past few days have simply demanded time and energy. Yet, during incredibly hectic days I have found myself listening, or speaking quietly to the Lord, or praying in the Spirit. Strength comes.
Life becomes the prayer.
