I am SO looking forward to getting my hands on a print copy of the NIV 2011. The more I use the TNIV (and I know the NIV 2011 retains much of the improvements of the TNIV), the more I really like what lies ahead.

Last Sunday morning as I preparing to preach in the worship service, I had a NRSV copy with me by chance. As I was worshiping I was led to a passage of Scripture I had prayed over earlier in the morning. Reading it in the NRSV (compared to the TNIV earlier) I realized the TNIV was far more appropriate for public reading, so I made my way back to my office to pick up an copy of the TNIV. The translation just reads so well.

My only regret comes from growing up with the KJV. I completely understand there are certain verses not found in the most reliable manuscripts. But where the NASB (which I used out of Bible college ) and the ESV both treat those verses with footnotes. The NIV and the TNIV simply put a verse number and went on. No footnote most of the time. I bridge an era that used the KJV and numbered verses, so reading the text publicly will have problems a very small percentage of the time. I just wish the NIV committee had kept those verses in the footnotes as a courtesy.

Other than that, I am really looking forward to getting my print copy of the NEW NIV.
