The Christian Roots of Communism

(The title is tongue in cheek.)

But consider this from 5th Century monk Paulinus of Nola:

We have no right to our possessions; they have been entrusted to us for the good of all. let us then invest with the Lord what he has given us, for we have nothing that does not come from him: we are dependent upon him for our very existence. And we ourselves particularly, who have a special and greater debt, since God not only created us but purchased us as well; what can we regard as our own when we do not possess even ourselves?

  1. Interesting comment Dan.

I asked a lecturer a question this morning if the Gospel has no social distinctions; why does the current culture of church leadership make it easier to access the senior pastor if your a successful business person than it is if your an average joe…

I’m specifically thinking of some churches in Australia that have a program where the business people in the church have a fortnightly / monthly breakfast / meeting with the senior leadership….

While I can appreciate and see the need to pastor the business people within the church; it seems there is no effort to do the same for the disabled, unemployed, general joe…

    1. Well in the US AOG we are strictly forbidden to cater to people with money. 😉

(I tried not to laugh too hard as I typed that.)
