Though the Darkness Hide Thee

It is so incredible to me that in just a few days there is a shift from what I felt to be a breakthrough in prayer to silence. It happens. That’s life as a believer.

And I’m not a real big fan of it.

One of the people I was praying for last Thursday, when I posted about “The Divine Yes,” passed away from cancer today. It’s God’s “yes” in some way, I’m sure. But… I’m not in the Calvinist camp on this one. Quite frankly, I have other emotions.

There are days when the darkness does seem to hide the presence of God. It’s part of the deal. We press on. We MUST press on.

I grieve for the family in this horrible loss. I ask the God of all comfort to be with them in this tragic time. Those are words I truly mean.

There are other words and thoughts I will save for a very private conversation with God. The darkness may hide him, but that doesn’t mean I like it.

Well said. Our churches need to rediscover the power of lamenting and allow this to happen; which is what you are going through now.

    1. Lamenting is a good word, Craig. Thank you!
