The Pulpit, the Prophet, and Politics

In a bit of disappointing news, a bunch of preachers are once again going to endorse candidates from the pulpit. Even more disappointing to me is one is from my own denomination.

When we, as pastors, step up to endorse candidates from a pulpit we are forfeiting our prophetic voice in the community. We are choosing to play politics rather than live out the Word of God. We should, as pastors, proclaim truth and demand that believers hold to biblical truth. That cuts across all political parties and should be a prophetic voice.

On a political note, I cannot even imagine endorsing ANY political candidate in this current climate. All parties are acting like sniveling babies and no one is being the adult. They all deserve a “time out.” 😉
