There is a place in the Spirit I need to go, to find, to dwell in. There is a call from the Spirit to press in, to wait, to sense the next move, the next leading, the next action.
There is a scene from an older movie, “Searching for Bobby Fischer,” where the chess tutor wipes all the chess pieces off the board and commands the boy genius to tell him the next move. He knew the boy had memorized the piece positions. When he tells the boy to give him the next move, he says, “Don’t move until you see it.”
It comes back at the end of the movie where the boy (Josh) realizes his opponent has made a mistake. He sits quietly and analyzes the board. His tutor is out in the hall but sees the mistake on closed circuit TV. He quietly mumbles what the next moves need to me, then says quietly, hoping Josh will somehow hear, “Don’t move until you see it.”
THAT is the position in the Spirit I want to have in my life. I want to walk in the Spirit, be so fully saturated with the Spirit, so immersed in the life of the Spirit, that I can move along in life and know that there are times where I need to hesitate just a bit, then know what the next move is because the Spirit is directing me clearly.
Don’t move until you see it.
