I wish I had put down the date I had first started my study of Psalm 119. But, today I finished. It wasn’t any scholarly work, but a devotional journey that deepened my hunger for the Word. I kept my notes in a comp book and ended up with over 300 pages of notes. It has been an incredible personal journey.
Earlier this year I finished Romans (which only took ONE comp book!) and felt an amazing loss when I finished. “What now?” I wondered.
Then the Lord directed me to Psalm 119. I want my life flowing out of the power of the Word of God. It begins with my hunger for knowing God through Scripture.
The Bible in this picture is Jonathan Edward’s Bible. (A better picture and explanation is here.) He hand-made it, cutting out a page of his KJV Bible and weaving it in with two blank pages. He took meticulous notes all his life. At his death (and he died young) he had over 6000 notes in those pages. This video gives some insight into the Bible he created.
We must KNOW God. It’s not about belief alone. It is about KNOWING. He is desiring to reveal himself. The Word is where we start.
