A 30 Day Challenge

It’s always the time of year when people think of weight loss and other challenges. A spiritual challenge has come to mind where I want to find ways to keep turning my mind to Christ.

I call it a “15 minute challenge” for 30 days.

5 Minutes at the beginning of the day: Reflect on a Psalm and pray. If you read 5 Psalms a day, this would be a good place to do it, or at least read one Psalm.

5 Minutes in the middle of the day: Take time during the middle part of the day to read a Proverb. If there are other spiritual readings you are doing, take time to reflect on that reading. (I am currently reading some work by Eugene Peterson.)

5 Minutes at the end of the day: Take time to reflect on a Psalm, pray a Psalm, or simply give thanks for the day.

By splitting it up and taking time all day long, it keeps my mind turning back to the presence of God. My old habits have led me to “do my devotions” then get on with my day. By the end of the day, I’ve forgotten what I had done in devotions at the beginning of the day.

I want to have my mind constantly turned to the Lord. So, I will work on this challenge for the next 30 days.

  1. Me too. I’ve already missed a couple of days. It’s so hard to remember in the middle of the day. But I will try again tomorrow and the next day. Thanks for the challenge.
