Immanuel. The God who is with us.

I am so glad he is not a god who is “out there” and does not know what we are going through. He is not some god who does not hear, or is “clueless” as to what we go through, or worse, does not care.

Christmas isn’t about Mary or Joseph. It’s not about the shepherds, Herod, the wisemen or even the sheep.

It’s about God with us. He has walked with us. He has lived with us. He knows how to communicate with us. He is not just the God who WAS with us… he is God WITH us… NOW.

I love so many things about Christmas. I love the lights in the darkness. I love the gifts and decorations. I love the food.

But it’s God with us that is what I love the most. Even when the darkness seems to hide him… he is THERE.

Thank you, Lord, for that unbelievable gift!
