In our church we have been going through our new discipleship theme: LIFE Together. LIFE represents four key areas of Christian growth and we want to spend our church life and energy training everyone in each of those areas.
L — Loving God (being people of the Book and people of worship)
I — Infilling of the Spirit (being people who are empowered witnesses)
F — Formation of the WHOLE person (in practical life and spiritual life)
E — Expanding the Kingdom (being Great Commission Christians)
This past Sunday we focused on the infilling of the Spirit. Being Pentecostal, there is a strong belief in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. What we as Pentecostals often forget is the main reason for the baptism of the Spirit: witnessing.
We are called to be witnesses. When the Spirit comes in power and we are impacting our world, it begins to get interesting. There are challenges, but there are spectacular times as well. The Spirit will give us the ride of our lives if we will let him!
One of the great challenges of our lives should be to pray with boldness: “Holy Spirit, let me hear your voice today. Lead me in opportunities to share the power of Jesus Christ.”
Sometimes great things can happen! Let me be clear, though. Sometimes nothing may happen.
What I do know is that if I never ask…nothing will ever happen.
And what fun is THAT?
