Matters of prayer: The “Harvest Hit List.”
There are so many ways to call this, and I know it is not original with me. In our church we take five people we know who are not serving Jesus. We have to know them by name, so it’s not, “I’m praying for the guy at the drycleaners.”
Simply pray over those names in regular fashion. I have my list in my Bible so I can refer to it regularly. Each time I look at that list I ask for the Spirit to work in their lives. I ask for opportunities the Spirit would give me to talk to them about Jesus.
Recently, a man I have been praying for over the years called me. He has been battling some life controlling issues, and asked if I could come see him. He wants me to bring him a Bible and talk to him about how to turn his life over to God.
We must be people of prayer. Pray on a regular basis. Ask the Lord for people to come to salvation. Keep on asking. Also, never forget to ask for those divine opportunities the Spirit can give you during a day.
Just as important: HAVE FUN with the way the Holy Spirit will surprise you with divine appointments. The Spirit has so many ways to open up doors for us. We need to be listening.
