Two great goals I have for 2007.
1. We need a fresh revelation of Jesus Christ in the American Church.
We don’t know who Jesus is. We have our pragmatism, we have our programs. We have our thoughts about who Jesus is. But we need to KNOW HIM. He needs to show up in our midst, like Acts 2, like Isaiah 6.
2. We need to walk in powerful transformation.
We need DISCIPLESHIP. What does it mean to follow Christ?
Hear these words of Dallas Willard:
“We have generated a variety of religion to which obedience is not regarded as essential.”
We have come full circle to days of Dietrich Bonhoeffer when he penned his book we now call “The Cost of Discipleship.” He wrote the book seeing the Church wanting Christ without the Cross.
We need to understand who Jesus is, then walk out this life of discipleship. We have to learn it is about OBEDIENCE. Jesus made it clear. Why have we avoided making it happen in our lives?
We need to walk in discipleship. I want to see a TRANSFORMED church in 2007.
Willard: “Discipleship is a life of learning from Jesus Christ how to live in the Kingdom of God now, as he himself did.”
Let it be, Lord.
