The Resolutions — #5

5. Resolved, never to lose one moment of time; but improve it the most profitable way I possibly can.

This is from Jonathan Edwards’ list of resolutions. Do not lose one moment of time. I don’t think Edwards did. He was constantly in study, writing, prayer and ministry. He learned how to discipline his time and make sure he used the days effectively. He died prematurely and is still considered America’s finest theologian (and this before America was the United States).

May my life be found squeezing life from every day. May I be found learning more about the Kingdom of God and walking in that power. May I be found loving my family. May I be found moving from one degree of glory to another. Greater glory. May the Spirit lead me on.

While I am not a world class blogger, I do enjoy journaling. I am a man, and I journal. Jotting thoughts, notes, ideas, grocery lists, etc. It’s healthy for me.

Over the years I have found all kinds of journals. One of my favorites has been Moleskine, though I rarely buy them because of cost. Now, a company called Picadilly has a journal at HALF the cost of Moleskine and they are worth checking out if you are so inclined. I carry a small one with me and so far it handles all kinds of ink very well. The Moleskine got weak on some roller ball inks. The page would not allow the ink to dry as fast. This one dries fast.

Tools of my trade, so to speak. My IBM ThinkPad. I am out of it because it’s not an Apple, but I will find a way to stay “hip.” Jennifer Connelly uses an IBM ThinkPad in the movie, “Blood Diamond.” I’ll be hip…I’ll be hip… (Just keep repeating it.)

A Waterman Phileas. Cheap as far as nice pens go, and I found out I can refill it with a Pilot G2. I am not a huge G2 fan, but I’ll survive. The other pen is a Retro51 Tornado. A lot of fun. I haven’t checked on cheap refills yet.

The journal is NOT a Moleskine. Sorry. It’s a “Ru” Journal by Xonex. It is half the price of a Moleskine, has a pocket in the back, an elastic band and it holds ink far better than most Moleskines. It is also similar in size and very durable. I am liking this one a lot.

I am finding this hybrid of pen, paper, and still using digital to be interesting. I love journaling on paper far more than blogging. However, I used to be a legal pad and pen guy when writing sermons and now I am more comfortable writing my sermons on my ThinkPad.
