So Jesus, Brad Pitt, and George Clooney are Walking Down the Street

A funny little scenario that Steve Guttenberg gave in an interview talked about how Clooney and Pitt are so popular:

“If we walked Jesus, Brad Pitt and George Clooney down Fifth Avenue, I think Clooney and Pitt would get a lot more attention”

To which I would reply: “Of course they would. Jesus was barely recognized in HIS day at times!”

I’m glad it’s not about a popularity contest.

I am Being Erased

I was reflecting on some parts of growing up today. It’s part of my famous memoirs that will soon be published. (Just kidding.)

But as I thought about my growing up years I began to reflect on my schooling and my church. Then… the realization hit me.

My old elementary schools (Third Avenue, which became Ben Day School, and Nettie Hartnett), along with my junior high (East Junior High) are all closed.

My old home church where I grew up: closed.

It’s like I haven’t existed!

I better hurry up on those memoirs!

Laughter

22 A joyful heart helps healing,
but a broken spirit dries up the bones. (Prov. 17:22, CEB)

When a week of heavy events, life situations, ministry, etc., really begins to beat down… it is wonderful to have things come along to lift me out of hard places.

Last night was one of those nights. I had tickets to see a barbershop harmony group and did it more for being with some great people than expecting great entertainment. Thankfully, I got both.

A hilarious group called the Lunch Break Quartet stole the show. I haven’t laughed that hard for that long in quite some time. It was exactly what I needed to get water to a parched soul. I was incredibly grateful for the God-given moment .
